Why are we called Anukala Yoga Community?
The word 'Anukāla' is derived from Sanskrit and translated into English means 'opportune', 'timely', 'adapted' and/or 'suited to the time'.
Nowadays, yoga is viewed (in the western world at least) as mere exercises to keep yourself fit and flexible. It's usually surrounded by regurgitated knowledge, with its inherent benefits and how to achieve them often being overlooked.

However, as we move into trickier times, being able to touch one's toes or knowing about the different chakras of the body isn't really of much help in navigating a sure and safe passage through life and its many obstacles, and thereby maintaining and enhancing your wellbeing.
The business is named Anukala Yoga because our aim is to revive those forgotten truths of yoga for today's age.
By providing our clients and practitioners with the tools and skills required to improve both their physical and mental health, whilst also imparting the underpinning Yogic and Vedantic philosophy required to develop lasting equanimity and contentment, no matter the time, space or circumstances of life, our goal is to bring all the benefits of yoga to the wider community in a way that is 'suited to the time'.
What are we?
Anukala Yoga Community is a collective of like-minded individuals and businesses that recognise the benefit of yoga and Vedanta in uplifting wellbeing across society and in its ability to help alleviate much of the unnecessary suffering from a person’s life, allowing people and businesses to act with greater responsibility, confidence, simplicity and kindness.
We provide training, support and guidance for practitioners to progress along the spiritual path and possess the precepts of Eastern philosophy with greater effect, or for anyone interested in the inner-workings of this body, mind and phenomenal existence to improve their physical functioning and mental health.
