Holistic Approach to Yoga
The word yoga means ‘to yoke’ or ‘form union with’, and is applicable to all factors and practices that remove the conditioning and misapprehensions which can cover-up a person’s true Self, revealing the ever-present contentment and joy within.
Yoga is an exact science based on certain immutable laws of nature that uphold the spiritual truths found in all sincere faiths.
Not belonging to any particular race, place or creed, yoga is available to all to improve health and wellbeing, navigate a surer passage through life and achieve the ultimate goal of Self-realisation.

In the West we typically cherry-pick the aspects of yoga we enjoy most, namely yogasanas (physical postures), pranayam (breathwork) and meditation techniques, but leave aside those parts we deem as unnecessary in living a modern Western lifestyle. However, doing this leaves our sadhana (spiritual practice) incomplete and those higher stages of meditation impossible to attain, as the fluctuations of the mind remain unchecked.
Enhanced health and wellbeing, greater strength and increased vitality are great benefits within themselves, but only make up the first rungs along the ladder to living a calmer, more content and enjoyable life.
At Anukala Yoga Community we adopt an all-encompassing approach towards yoga, focusing on both its physical and philosophical aspects.
The 3P’s: ‘Practice, Perseverance & Patience’
Our Hatha Yoga classes teach yogasanas, pranayam and various meditation techniques, along with their underpinning philosophy.
We harness and utilise the subtle forces inside the body to remove blockages, help control the mind and prepare both for the deeper stages of meditation, with each practice clearly demonstrated and well-explained, so those in attendance are comfortable in their practice and derive the most out of our classes.
We also offer engaging online videos, regularly updated articles and a monthly e-magazine to share insights and knowledge related to yoga and its methods.
In addition to the group classes listed below, one-to-one and online classes are also available upon request.
